Over the past 30 years, Stefan has held key positions at the world’s most recognizable automotive and financial services blue chip companies. In his two-decade career at BMW, he held roles in engineering, sales, marketing, and financial services in both Germany and the U.S. In 2002, he became BMW’s youngest-ever Global CFO and Member of the Board of Management. He held that position until 2008. During his tenure, he also served as CEO of Rolls Royce, a BMW subsidiary, and was closely involved with the re-launch of the iconic MINI Brand. He was also vice chairman of the BMW Brilliance joint venture in China. After leaving BMW, he became Global CFO at Deutsche Bank, where he was also on the Managing Board for eight years. At Deutsche, he was also head of the Supervisory Board for both, BHF Bank and Post Bank. He also was responsible to complete The Cosmopolitan Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. After leaving Deutsche Bank, he became a member of the Supervisory Board of Rocket Internet SE, a Berlin firm that incubates and invests in technology companies. Furthermore, he was a senior advisor to Warburg Pincus. Before founding Canoo, Stefan was the CFO and COO at Faraday Future, a Los Angeles startup that develops intelligent electric vehicles. He has lived in Colombia, the U.S., Japan, Germany, and the United Kingdom. He speaks English, German and Spanish fluently.
